BAX® System Real-time PCR Assay for Shigella

Shigella naturally shares large portions of its' genetic sequence with many other pathogenic bacteria and is very easy to cross-contaminate with very lose dose response required. This cross-contamination primarily occurs from poor hygiene practices during food production and handling in retail environments. Utilizing the Real-Time PCR assay for Shigella can quickly eliminate negative samples and reduce presumptive positives seen in conventional methods due to the specificity and inclusivity of serotypes. Common implicated serotypes including S. sonnei, S. flexneri, S. boydii, and S. dysenteriae are easily detected to help you identify potential contamination quickly.
